Maha Dakhil, CAA’s co-head of motion pictures, has resigned from her leadership role and resigned from the agency’s internal board following her controversial comments about Israel’s response to Hamas terror attacks.

Dakhil represents stars including Tom Cruise and Natalie Portman and the move comes after talks with the agency led by Bryan Lourd, Kevin Huvane and Richard Lovett.

However, she will continue to work with clients, although she is expected to step down from certain teams.

CAA has just sent out an internal communication with the changes.

This came after she reposted an Instagram story earlier this week that said, “You’re just finding out who supports genocide.”

Dakhil, who also represents the likes of Anne Hathaway, Reese Witherspoon and Olivia Wilde, subsequently apologized in a statement and admitted she had made a “mistake.”

“I made a mistake with a repost on my Instagram story that used hurtful language. Like so many of us, I suffered heartbreak. I am proud to stand on the side of humanity and peace. I am very grateful to Jewish friends and colleagues who pointed out the effects and educated me. I deleted the repost immediately. I am sorry for the pain I have caused,” she said in a statement.

There was some confusion yesterday as to whether this Dakhil represents Steven Spielberg, but Deadline has confirmed that although she is listed on Spielberg’s IMDb Pro page, she is not working with the Schindler’s List director.

This move brought together a group of showrunners and high-profile WGA members today to discuss why the WGA is silent on the issue.

Chaired by American soul creator Jonathan Prince, the Zoom meeting was scheduled to feature Sacha Baron Cohen, Jerry Seinfeld, Mad Men creator Matt Weiner and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s Amy Sherman-Palladino.

The meeting comes nearly a week after dozens of high-profile WGA members published an open letter rebuking the guild leadership for “the guild remaining silent as terrorists invaded Israel to murder, rape and kidnap Jews …” guild members say a little more.
