According to CNN, several people waited more than an hour before they could pass through the doors of the 44,500-square-foot warehouse (six football fields).

Numerous images shared on social media show a huge crowd gathering outside the store.

“I didn’t expect there to be so many people,” said Kim Lin, who was one of the first to enter the doors of the large store.

“I think Costco is special because it imports brands you can't find anywhere else,” adds another customer, Olin Wang.

A similar situation occurred when the first Costco store in China opened in the city of Shanghai in 2019.

The latter had to close its doors on the first day due to the chaos there.

This is the sixth branch in the country, but the first in the south of the country, in the city of Shenzhen, home to more than 17 million people, often referred to as China's “Silicon Valley.”
