After Rachel Garance discovers the truth about her son William’s disappearance and reconnects with him, she is free to focus on her work as a forensic portrait painter. And that job isn’t missing in the show’s final season, as the investigative unit tries to solve a series of murders committed by a person the police dub “The Angel of Ville-Marie”.
The production team arranged to meet us in a disused building at the foot of the Jacques Cartier Bridge. The gloomy parking lot, a former squatter’s haven, fits perfectly with the dark atmosphere of the suspense series Portrait-Robot. However, this season we are entitled to a lighter Ève Garance.

“Just knowing that her son is alive and being able to meet him is a huge relief for her. On the other hand, she wonders if she still has the maternal fiber since she hasn’t seen William in five years. She can throw herself into the investigation with a lighter heart, and there’s no shortage of work when a serial killer roams the streets of Montreal. The legal portrait painter and her team will also delve into the more macabre universe of sadomasochism,” explains Rachel Graton, excellent in the role of the mysterious Ève Garance.
for love of her
Producer Sophie Lorain, who plays investigative unit head Maryse Ferron, comes out to meet us… on both feet. Can his character use his legs again? “No no! Maryse still uses a wheelchair. Heading to China to undergo an experimental treatment designed to cure the “brittle bone” syndrome she suffers from, she decides to turn back when she learns that Bernard (Rémy Girard) has been kidnapped by the mafia !“

In the second season, Bernard confessed his love to Maryse, a mutual feeling. Will they go out together? “It’s complicated. At work, Maryse disagrees with Bernard’s methods and finds that his boss is too strict with his principles. However, they are very attached. In addition, Maryse knows Bernard well enough to know that he follows wants to avenge his kidnappers after his release, so she makes him promise not to attack the mafia, she wants the situation to be resolved through official channels, which he reluctantly accepts, out of love for her.
Bernard, who is increasingly plagued by his job
During the first two seasons, Bernard counted the number of deaths he had seen in his career. “He’s gotten to a point where he just stops counting because he’s finding it increasingly difficult to uncover young people who are being massacred, tortured and murdered. He no longer has a shell, it touches his heart. However, he doesn’t know what else to do! The investigative unit team is his family, it’s his life!” emphasizes his interpreter Rémy Girard.

As Bernard develops more compassion for the victims, his protégé, Anthony Kamal, adjusts to the dirty scenes he witnesses as a crime scene technician. “When we acted out a scene where the investigative unit turned up in an abandoned apartment to collect clues after the violent death of a sadomasochist, I couldn’t believe the hyper-realistic setting the production team had created. The only thing missing was… the smell! However, what I love most about this series are my scenes with Rémy Girard. I like the dynamic between the experienced investigator and the young man who wants to make a name for himself. They are an interesting duo!” says Adrien Belugou.

Pushing the concept of the portrait robot further!
For this final season of Portrait-Robot, author André Gulluni had only one challenge: to write even more twisted stories than the previous ones. “Since the series’ common thread is the robot portrait, I had to rack my brains to find unusual storylines. It can’t always be a young woman who disappears; The work of a forensic portrait painter needs to be evaluated from multiple angles. After Eve created a composite portrait featuring a child, a blind victim, and then a repentant serial killer, I came up with the idea of staging a young man who has visions of murders before they happen. Of course there is a logical explanation for all this, we don’t fall into science fiction, but it allowed me to develop the concept further! explains the author, a little nostalgic at the thought of saying goodbye to the characters he created.
The third season of Portrait Robot will be presented at Club illico in 2024.
