Brock Caufield, the older brother of Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield, has signed a contract with the Toronto Marlies.
According to The Hockey News magazine Thursday, the 24-year-old forward will make his pro debut with the American League (AHL) farm club Toronto Maple Leafs. However, the Marlies confirmed his arrival the next day: the agreement binding between the two parties is only valid in the AHL.
Never drafted into the National League, Brock Caufield is just playing his fifth season with the University of Wisconsin Badgers. He has also played two of his five NCAA campaigns with his brother.
In 36 games in the 2022–23 season, Brock Caufield had 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points. He won the Badgers’ Most Valuable Player award that season, the Spike Carlson/Chris Chelios Trophy.
Like his first brother, Brock Caufield plays on the wing and shoots from the right. However, he is five centimeters taller at 1.75 meters.
