Death in an accident at work: He saves his mother with his liver

A teenager killed in a sawmill accident in the United States saves the lives of his mother and several others thanks to his organ donation.

On June 29, 16-year-old Michael Schuls got stuck in a log stacker while trying to free it in Florence, Wisconsin, local media WBAY reported. He was hospitalized in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries two days later.

However, his father, Jim Schuls, consoles himself by valuing his son’s inheritance since he was an organ donor.

“Luckily his mother had a perfect ‘mating’ for her liver and seven or eight other families survived. He performed the miracle. We prayed for seven other families, including his mother. It’s what keeps me going,” he said.

However, it wasn’t clear why the teen’s mother needed a new liver.

Jim Schuls worked at the same location as his son and witnessed the accident that killed his child, according to WBAY.

A crowdfunding campaign was launched to help Michael Schuls’ family and a scholarship was also established in his honor.
