Newlyweds Michelle and Alain wished for a magical wedding near the Saint Lawrence River. They had been waiting for this moment for almost a year.

However, when the storm hit, the wedding preparations were almost completely destroyed. The structure of the marquee was completely damaged, the decoration was destroyed and several trees were lying on the site.

On the day of the storm, a friend of the bride and groom received a heartbreaking phone call from the bride and groom. “It screamed, it cried: ‘Judith, it’s over! Everything is broken, it’s amazing. You can’t believe it’s hell,’” explains Judith Sicotte.

She quickly inspected the inventory and found all the damage there. They quickly got to work so as not to spoil this long-awaited wedding for months.

“All the lights were on. We had to hang all the lights, redo the balloons, the whole setup had to be redone from A to Z. Last night we finished at 9:30 p.m.,” says Judith.

Solidarity boost for the newlyweds

The couple did not want to give up their dream of getting married on Saturday. They decided to start all over again.

Families, friends and ministry staff came to help the newlyweds. They freed the place by removing the branches on the ground and replacing the structure.
