Heatwave in Europe: Tourists are bothered by weather conditions

According to American news channel CNN, Europe is being hit by a severe heatwave that is causing concern for the arrival of one of the busiest times of the year for tourists.

Parts of Spain, France, Greece, Croatia and Italy face heat in excess of 40 degrees Celsius.

“Europe is in the midst of intense heat this week and it has only just begun,” the European Space Agency (ESA) warned in a statement.

Heat is one of the deadliest natural hazards. In fact, more than 61,000 people lost their lives during Europe’s summer heatwave last year.

In Italy, temperatures could reach record highs in the coming days. On Friday, the Ministry of Health in Italy issued warnings for around 15 cities.

According to ASE, Sardinia and Sicily are likely to be close to the current European temperature record of 48.8 degrees Celsius.

In Rome this week, several tourists collapsed from heat stroke, according to CNN. A British tourist also fainted in front of the Colosseum in Rome on Tuesday.
