Kindergarten teacher executed in China for poisoning 25 students and killing one – Fox News

According to a court in central China, a kindergarten teacher found to have poisoned 25 of her students, killing one, has been executed.

Wang Yun’s sentence was carried out on Thursday, according to a notice displayed in the No. 1 Intermediate Court in Jiaozuo city, Henan province.

The 40-year-old was found guilty on March 27, 2019 of adding toxic sodium nitrite to her students’ pap while she worked at Mengmeng Pre-school Education.

The incident came after she had an argument with a colleague about “student management.”

While the majority of the students recovered, one of the students succumbed to toxic poisoning after suffering from multi-organ failure despite 10 months of treatment.

Apparently, prior to the March 2019 preschool incident, Wang also poisoned her husband with the same substance, although he also survived with minor injuries.

The 40-year-old is said to have acted out of revenge in both cases of poisoning, according to the court statement.

Wang was originally sentenced to nine months in prison for intentional assault. Her sentence was later commuted to the death penalty despite her appeal.

It is unclear how she was executed, although Wang was reportedly taken to an execution site before her sentence could be served.

According to reports, most death sentences in China are carried out with a bullet to the back of the head, although there have also been some cases of lethal injection.

China is thought to have more death penalties than the rest of the world combined, but the exact number of state killings each year remains a government secret.

Attacks on schools have become a growing trend across China, and are largely perpetrated by individuals who hold grudges against specific people or society and are considered “mentally disturbed” individuals.

Gun ownership is illegal in China and most of these attacks have been carried out with knives, including on Monday when a man was arrested after allegedly killing six people and wounding one at a kindergarten in southeast China.

It is unclear whether the victims were students.
