LAST HOUR: Gusts up to 100 km/h

Here we go again!

The calm after the storm? Not really. After Wednesday’s storm, a similar scenario is emerging, giving a feeling of déjà vu. As a reminder, southern Quebec in particular was hit with gusts of up to 90 km/h. A lot of damage was reported and more than 50,000 power outages were recorded. A similar scenario is repeated this Saturday afternoon.

At the beginning of the afternoon, almost 50,000 breakdowns were already registered in Ontario. The system is approaching Quebec with 76 km/h gusts recorded around 3 p.m. in Ottawa. Debris is said to have fallen from a high-rise building under construction. Strong winds could be the cause of this incident.

Gusts of 100 km/h recorded

The strongest gusts are currently hitting southern Quebec. Gusts of up to 104 km/h were measured at Montreal Airport around 4:45 p.m. this Saturday. Up to 90 km/h are planned for Montérégie and 80 km/h for certain sectors of Mauricie.

The main points to monitor are: the risk of power failure and possible damage related to the violence of the winds. We have already registered more than 22,000 power outages in Quebec. The main sectors affected are the Montérégie, the Laurentians and the Outaouais. Also note that buildings can be damaged and loose objects can be swept away. Attention risk of injury!
