Online shopping: Products from Quebec end up on Amazon

Consumers from Chibougamau, Kelowna or Osaka can find Quebec products on Amazon. The online sales giant has just signed a partnership with a major local certification brand.

“We are arriving where almost 50% of online purchases are made in Quebec,” says Elfi Morin, who runs Les Produits du Québec (PDQ). The NPO certifies the products of companies such as Sac Magique (Masdel), Peinture Laurentide or Unscented Company.

Its appearance on Amazon is a blessing because “it is a must-see.” PDQ already has partnerships with retailers such as Walmart, Jean Coutu and La Vie en Rose.

The NPO has 155 member companies who pay a fee to have their products certified locally. 36 were sold on Amazon before Monday: Of the 62,000 PDQ-certified products, 1,750 are already offered on Amazon.

Jeff Bezos has been selling Attitude and Biovert cleaning products, Unscented Co. soaps, Face4 Games, Génacol pills and nail creation accessories for some time.

Amazon is using the partnership to create amazon.ca/LesProduitsDuQuébec, which is live at the time of publication.
