Quentin Tarantino Has he found the star of his next film?
According to insider Daniel Richtman, there is already a name for the protagonist of his next highly anticipated work, The film critic: is that from Paul Walter Hausermainly known for films Tonya, BlacKkKlansman, Richard Jewell And Cruellaand winner of a Golden Globe for a television miniseries Black bird. Apparently, the official announcement will have to wait for the end of the actors’ strike, which currently prohibits members from signing contracts for new future engagements.
If everything works out, Hauser could play the role Movie review of the title: Jim Sheldon, who writes reviews for a porn magazine. A character that Quentin Tarantino describes as “a cross between a young Howard Stern and what Travis Bickle might have been if he had been a critic.”
Very little is known about the plot of the film takes place in 1977: according to some hypotheses, it could be intertwined with the true story of Pauline Kael, one of the most influential critics of his time as well as a writer and essayist. Kael was known for her heated arguments with editors and filmmakers: Tarantino’s admiration for the character is well known, and the time in which the film is set coincides with one of the most intense moments in the journalist’s career, when she took on the role of consultant for Paramount Pictures.
The director has already confirmed that the script for The Movie Critic is ready and that Filming is scheduled to begin in the fall, strike of course allowed. Just in the last few days, the state of California announced that production would benefit from $20 million in tax breaks.
According to other rumors, it could also be The Movie Critic Bruce Willis’ latest film. The popular star unfortunately had to say goodbye to acting after being diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, but was able to return a brief cameo appearance directly in Quentin Tarantino’s latest film and thus meets the director of Pulp Fiction, in which Willis was one of the protagonists, one last time John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson.
