Former child star Jacob Tremblay is all grown up. The 16-year-old actor left fans stunned this week when he walked the red carpet at the premiere of ‘The Little Mermaid’ – and looked completely different.
Originally from Vancouver, Canada, the star began his career as a toddler – appearing in numerous commercials – and made his feature film debut in The Smurfs 2 at the age of seven.
He went on to star in a string of critically acclaimed films – including 2015’s ‘Room’ opposite Brie Larson and 2017’s ‘Wonder’ starring Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson – and most recently portrayed Flounder in the upcoming live-action remake of “The Little”. Mermaid.
But when the 16-year-old attended an event honoring the upcoming Disney film on Monday, many people couldn’t believe how much he had changed since he first took the stage as a child.

Someone shared a photo of Jacob from when he was younger compared to now, and the internet was quick to embrace his shocking transformation.
Twitter user @mmdisney200 posted the two images – one of the actor filming The Little Mermaid two years ago and another of him at the premiere this month – and the image quickly went viral, garnering thousands of retweets , Likes and Replies People surprised by its great shine.
He most recently played Flounder in the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.
“This tweet needs a trigger warning,” one person joked, while another asked, “Why can’t time just move like a normal human?”
“I can’t believe this is the same boy from Room,” said another. A fourth comment read, “I remember when he was a baby. He looks like a little man now.”
“I’m officially old,” wrote another user.
“Now I understand parents when they say kids grow up so fast,” tweeted another surprised person.

Director Mike Flanagan later admitted he had a hard time portraying the murder of a child on film, calling it “one of the most difficult scenes he’s ever had to work on in a movie”.
However, he couldn’t stop praising Jacob’s performance, telling the Los Angeles Times, “The problem is that Jacob Tremblay is so damn good.”
