The Government of Nicaragua revokes the powers of its representatives before the OAS DIARIO DE CUBA

The government of Nicaragua announced this Sunday that it is withdrawing the credentials of its representatives to the Organization of American States (OAS). and confirmed his “unchanging decision” to leave the organization, EFE reported.

“We withdraw the credentials of our representatives, colleagues Orlando Tardencilla, Iván Lara and Michael Campbell. We will not be present in any case of this devilish instrument of evil called OEA‘ the government of Nicaragua said in a public statement.

Foreign Minister Denis Moncada ratified the “unchangeable decision to leave the OAS, as expressed on November 19, 2021.”

“And by confirming our irrevocable termination and resignation, we are also communicating this as of that date We are no longer part of all the fraudulent mechanisms of this monstrosity, let’s call it Permanent Council, call it Commissions, call it Meetings, call it America Summit.he added.

Likewise, Moncada announced the closure of the OAS offices in Managua: “This notorious organization will not have any offices in our country either. Their local headquarters have been closed.”

minutes after the announcement, the National Police surrounded the offices of the OAS in Nicaragua, on the outskirts of Managua while their symbols were being dismantled.

“Nicaragua is not a colony of anyone, so it is not part of a ministry for colonies. By denouncing and abandoning this infernal mechanism, which we immediately withdraw with absolute dignity, we affirm, yes, our respect, affection and appreciation for Cuba and Venezuela, and to the peoples who fight bravely and who have accompanied us in battles and continue to do so,” he said.

The government announced last November its decision to withdraw the country from the OAS after the organization denied the legitimacy of the elections held that month President Daniel Ortega won re-election with his wife Rosario Murillo as vice president and seven of his opponents in prison and two in exile.

Nicaragua’s continued presence in the OAS was in doubt because the panel approved the OAS’s bid process for the Inter-American Democratic Charter Allegations against Ortega of human rights abuses in 2018 during anti-government demonstrations which, according to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), claimed 355 lives.

To date, the OAS has not applied the Inter-American Democratic Charter.

Nicaragua’s exit will be official in November 2023if two years have passed since the announcement of his decision.

Nicaragua has been in a socio-political crisis since 2018 which was reinforced in the November elections.
