Tour tip from Herbert Raffalt | The most beautiful peaks in the world are in the Dolomites

Since the first ascent of the Große Zinne (2,999 m) in 1869, the impressive triumvirate on the border between the Italian province of Belluno in the south and South Tyrol in the north has been one of the most sought-after summit destinations in the Alps. . For Reinhold Messner, the Dolomites are the most beautiful mountains in the world. It’s no wonder visitors from all over the world flood this magical place.

Things are calmer outside of the main season. When the toll road to the Auronzo hut is closed at the end of October, the nature park is quiet. The climb along the 4.5 kilometer Fischleintal in Sexten is particularly beautiful. From the Moos district it goes past the hut at the end of the valley to Drei-Zinnen-Hütte. You can enjoy the unique setting of the Sesto sundial.

From the paid parking lot in Fischleinboden, we walked almost horizontally along signposted trail No. 102 to the hut at the end of the valley. From here the path becomes narrower and steeper. In numerous curves it passes close to the Altensteiner Bach, through the romantic Altensteintal to the Bodensees (2,335 m). The two lakes offer a picturesque image in the middle of the typical Dolomite mountains.

From here it is not far to Drei-Zinnen-Hütte (2,405 m). With its striking red roof, it can be seen from afar. The famous towers of the “Tre Cime di Lavaredo” are also visible from left to right; the Kleine Zinne, the Große Zinne and the Western Zinne.
