According to police sources, Viergemene Toussaint was allegedly killed by her ex-boyfriend, a 36-year-old man. The latter has not yet been arrested and is still actively wanted by the authorities.

The suspect was due to return to court on November 14 in a domestic violence case. He is said to have kidnapped and beat the victim last summer. Sources say he tried to steal and destroy her phone.

He was conditionally released in late July, court records show. It is also stated that he was forbidden to go near the victim and his apartment. He had no right to communicate with her.

In recent months, the neighborhood has witnessed altercations between the woman and her husband, our sources say. La Presse was able to confirm that the ex-spouse suspected of murder was arrested at the time.

It was a friend of the 42-year-old victim who made the sad discovery on Friday morning. Authorities were notified around 9:30am, said SPVM spokesman Jean-Pierre Brabant. “The friend in question had not heard from the victim for some time. So he went to her house and was able to enter the apartment. »

The police arrived shortly afterwards at the deceased’s house on Boulevard Lacordaire, near Rue Amos.

“On the spot, they determined that the circumstances surrounding the death were suspicious and an investigation is ongoing,” explains Agent Brabant. The woman’s body showed signs of violence, according to our sources.

According to our information, there was no sign of forced entry into the apartment. A security perimeter was set up to allow investigators to shed light on this possible murder.

By midday, the police were still trying to find out more by going door-to-door with neighbors.

Surveillance camera footage will be reviewed by investigators over the coming hours to learn more about this tragedy. “An autopsy should be done shortly to find out a little more about the cause of death,” adds agent Jean-Pierre Brabant.

This is the 24th murder this year in the metropolis.
