A recent facial survey conducted by Casago on Instagram revealed something fascinating: On average, 43% of people in the most popular tourist spots around the world are smiling.

However, the study showed that the tourist attractions visited also have an impact on this aspect. Thousands of vacation photos from 1,000 tourist attractions around the world were analyzed to find out which ones make visitors smile the most.

How this analysis was carried out

According to TripAdvisor, Casago has compiled the ten most popular tourist attractions in 100 different countries. Therefore, facial recognition technology was used to analyze the Instagram photos taken at these attractions and assign a “lucky” score from 0 to 100 for the faces in each photo.

Finally, the attractions were ranked based on the percentage of happy faces captured in the photos.
