A 2-year-old child was seriously injured in a traffic accident involving two people on Tuesday morning in Acton Vale, Montérégie.
The event occurred just after 8 a.m. before 100, Route 139.
According to authorities, a woman who was driving her Toyota Corolla with her two-year-old son suddenly lost control of her car.
The vehicle would have landed in the oncoming lane and collided with an oncoming vehicle at the same time.
“The vehicle that was struck landed on its roof and ended up in the ditch,” said Sergeant Louis-Philippe Ruel, spokesman for the Surete du Québec.
The Toyota Corolla continued driving and then collided with a second oncoming vehicle.
In this double collision, only the 2-year-old boy suffered serious head injuries. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
His mother was taken to a hospital as a precaution, she had no obvious injuries.
The occupants of the other two vehicles involved escaped unharmed.
A portion of Route 139 has been completely closed to traffic to allow Sûreté du Québec collision investigation specialists to do their job.
According to the police, the road was snowy and slippery at the time of the accident.
