Bengals star Joe Mixon’s home may have been the scene of a shooting, according to reports

Ohio Police were called to the home of Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon Monday night in response to an alleged shooting that left a youth who was reportedly taken to the hospital with minor injuries. An active investigation is ongoing.

The story is still unfolding and Mixon’s involvement, if any, as well as the circumstances of the youngster’s injury remain unclear. According to Cincinnati’s Fox 19, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputy left the residence without making an arrest.

Tuesday, The network reports a neighbor’s claim that a gun was fired from Mixon’s apartment at high school teenagers playing “NERF Wars” next to his property, but it’s unclear who pulled the trigger.

The local network reports that officers cordoned off an area around a house on Ayers Road in Anderson Township – a Cincinnati suburb on the banks of the Ohio River. The residence adjoins a home Mixon owns, according to an arrest warrant for the 26-year-old NFL star, which was dropped earlier this year.

Fox 19 reports that there was an evidence marker in Mixon’s garden and MPs were seen extending crime scene tape to his property around 11pm on Monday.

Mixon has had a tumultuous 2023 so far.

After the Bengals failed in their bid for a second straight Super Bowl berth by losing the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC title game, a warrant was issued for Mixon’s arrest on allegations that he had a gun on a woman in downtown Cincinnati.

Mixon reportedly told the woman to “slap her in the face,” adding, “I should shoot you now. The police can’t get me.’

The alleged incident reportedly happened the day before the Buffalo Bills played in an AFC divisional playoff game.

However, the threatened charges against Mixon were dismissed at the request of the Hamilton County Attorney’s Office.

Authorities have reserved the right to refile the case at a later date, and a prosecutor told District Judge Curt Kissinger that the department “needs additional investigation before we proceed with this case.”

The prospectors also noted that the alleged victim understood the need to dismiss the case, but still wants to press charges if the case is refiled.

Mixon’s agent Peter Schaffer said police had issued a ruling in the case, which reportedly involved a traffic incident in downtown Cincinnati.

“It was a hasty judgment,” Schaffer said of NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero. “They drop the charges first thing in the morning.

“I truly believe that the police have a duty to do their job before filing charges because of the damage that can be done to a person’s reputation. They should be kept at a higher level because I’m not playing with people’s lives.’

Mixon remains signed with the Bengals for 2023 on a base salary of $9.4 million, but his future with the team seems clouded following recent comments from Bengals director of human resources Duke Tobin.

“Joe was an important part of our team,” Tobin said, speaking in past tense at the recent NFL Draft Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

“He is a successful part of our team. Again, I’m not going to predict the off-season because I don’t have the answers.

Selected in the 2017 second round by Oklahoma, Mixon has rushed for 5,378 yards and 40 touchdowns with Cincinnati topping 231 career receptions for 1,763 yards and an additional 10 points.

He was a Pro Bowl selection for the 2021 season when the Bengals reached the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1988 season.

He was previously charged with assault for hitting a woman in October 2014 while he was a student in Norman, Oklahoma.

The woman claimed Mixon and his teammates harassed her and a friend outside the store. According to surveillance video, the woman hit Mixon, who then slapped her in the face. She required surgery as a result of the attack.

The woman accused Mixon of directing a homophobic slur at her friend, who Mixon claimed directed a racial slur at him.

In 2017 an agreement was reached and Mixon apologized to Molitor.
