“Three years later, my thoughts are still with the families and loved ones of the victims,” ​​Prime Minister François Legault said on Twitter.

Federal Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos also honored the memory of more than 51,000 people who died in the country in a statement shared on social networks.

“It is also a day of recognition of the immense resilience and sacrifice of Canadians. We take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all medical professionals and key workers who have stayed on the front lines with compassion, tenacity and courage during the pandemic,” he emphasized.

While the virus continues to circulate in the country and around the world, “its impact on our healthcare system is still being felt,” added the minister, but encouraging the population to receive all recommended vaccines and continue to use personal protection means.
