Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy starts spider-free mode

If, like Ron Wesley, you’re afraid of spiders, fear not: Hogwarts legacy game developer Avalanche Software has you covered! An update to the game’s accessibility features includes an Arachnophobia mode.

In this version of the game, enemy spiders change their appearance, their howls are reduced or even removed, as are the knockdown effects of small spiders. The corpses of these eight-legged creatures also become invisible.

Players who have this mode enabled will instead see a red-eyed enemy surrounded by floating roller skates.

These sliding props are a nod to the scene from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, where wizards and witches meet their greatest fear through a Dementor. Ron Wesley’s was shaped like a spider, which he ridiculed by putting roller skates on its eight legs.

To enable Arachnophobia mode, simply access the game’s accessibility settings.

However, the creators of the game are not removing all spiders from Hogwarts Legacy. The Field Guide, for example, remains unchanged.

This update arrives at the same time as the title launches on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles.

The game is already available on PC and Xbox Series X/S consoles, as well as on the PlayStation 5 console since February. The launch for the Nintendo Switch console is scheduled for July 25th.
