“I don’t know what to do with myself!”: Harrison Ford insists he has no plans to retire and admits he’s waited “years” for a return to the Indiana Jones franchise

Harrison Ford has insisted he has no plans to retire while discussing his return to Indiana Jones for the final film in the series.

The 80-year-old American actor returned to the role of the daredevil archaeologist in new movie The Dial Of Destiny, 15 years after he last portrayed the character on screen.

Harrison appeared on Tuesday’s episode of “Lorraine” to talk about the film and was asked if he had considered retiring after the last Indiana Jones epic.

Speaking to Ria Hebden, however, Harrison dismissed claims that he was considering retirement, stressing that he has no plans to stop acting anytime soon.

Laughing, the Hollywood legend said: “Retired? I don’t know what to do with myself.’

Harrison admitted that he liked “going to work every day” while shooting the last Indiana Jones film, which also starred Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

He said he was overjoyed to have the chance to follow in Indiana’s footsteps again, as he admitted he’d been waiting “years” for the film’s script.

Discussing the decision to make this final film 15 years after the last Indiana film, he stated, “It’s been 40 years since the beginning and I’ve been waiting for this script and this opportunity for a number of years.”

“And we finally found the right mix of adventure, character and emotion and I was thrilled to be able to step back into this character.”

Of returning to the project, he said, “It was a big job and a very ambitious film and I was happy with the script.”

“It was fun going to work every day,” he added.

Harrison also described working with 37-year-old Phoebe as “brilliant” and her acting talent as “cinema gold.”

He said, “She brought incredible intelligence to the character she plays – I mean the intelligence of the actress.” She really is cinema gold. She is a brilliant actress and a brilliant companion.’

Harrison also praised Ke Huy Quan – the child star of fame for playing his pal Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom – and won an Oscar for the film Everything Everywhere All At Once earlier this year.

He said, “He has amazing physique and energy.” It’s so great to see him back in this form. “He really is a unique person and has worked in the industry for so long and had such great success.”

Franchise newcomer Phoebe stars in the sequel as the goddaughter of world-traveling archaeologist Helena Shaw, alongside Mads Mikkelsen as villain Juergen Voller, an ex-Nazi who now works for NASA, and Toby Jones as Basil Shaw, an ally of Jones.

Other new additions include Antonio Banderas as Renaldo, a friend of Indy’s, Thomas Kretschmann as Colonel Weber, Toby Jones as Basil Shaw and Boyd Holbrook as Klaber.
