Torrential rain triggered 10 mudslides and temporary power outages in 13 parts of the country on Saturday night. In the central district of Goesan alone, nearly 7,000 residents had to be evacuated after a local dam overflowed. According to media reports, seven injuries were also reported.
The situation remained tense. The meteorological office announced heavy and persistent rains in large parts of the country. South Korea is currently in the summer rainy season, during which regular flooding occurs.
