This disturbing news appeared on my Twitter feed on Thursday afternoon.
One of my Ottawa subscribers had fled to safety, fearing the worst…
She is alive and well!
These weather warnings, which at times sounded on our phones and radios, were therefore justified.
There was a debate around me in the hair salon about evaluating all these warnings of possible, very worrying, tornadoes.
Until the sky darkens, lightning and rain come and it’s windy to dehorn the oxen.
Goodbye styling!
In the pouring rain, I run out of the living room to quickly flee to my car.
You can’t see anything at 20 meters.
The windshield wipers beat the time.
Like the Gauls in the village of Asterix, I’m starting to worry that the sky is falling on our heads.
This summer of 2023 definitely says nothing valuable to me…
What will our summers look like in 10 years given these climate changes?
I’m not inclined to environmental fears, the planet has seen many others. It will outlast and survive for thousands of years. But in what condition?
In recent months, Quebec has experienced the following:
Ice storms in April.
Flooding in Baie-Saint-Paul.
Wildfires cause smoke billows over New York City.
Number of rescued and evacuated people in several regions.
If we still don’t understand all this…
Adapt to climate change!
Reducing our greenhouse gas emissions alone will not solve the problem. Cities must have the means to adapt their infrastructure to these new realities.
It takes a lot more than bike lanes…
Do our governments understand that we need to invest now? Otherwise the costs will increase.
And we, are we ready?
If we had to vacate our house?
Or spend a few days without electricity and water?
This makes you think…
I’m afraid there are enough of us who don’t have contingency plans.
I will hurry to consult the site https://www.prepare-vous.gc.ca.
