“Continuity”. With this word the President of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, has defined his new government team that will take office this Thursday, the first of the coalition between PP and Vox in the Region of Murcia and in which compared to the last legislative period it will be There will only be four new faces, two of them according to the Vox suggestion.
As provided for in the agreement that the Ultra party reached with the PP earlier this month to reappoint López Miras as president, the party’s regional leader, José Ángel Antelo, will be the new vice president of the autonomous community, also the newly created Occupy Ministry of Interior, Emergencies and Regional Planning. Santiago Abascal’s representatives have also proposed the new head of public works, civil engineer José Manuel Pancorbo, who has been with the party since 2014 and of whom López Miras has highlighted his extensive resume in infrastructure planning. These include the zero discharge plan for the Mar Menor, the implementation of which was rejected by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and which the Murcian PP decided to reinstate if it came to government during the regional election campaign on May 28th.
Those at Vox will have no direct power over the restoration of the salt lagoon, which has been the biggest point of disagreement expressed by both parties. These will remain in the hands of the experienced popular leader Juan María Vázquez, who will also have powers in the areas of the environment, universities and research. The programmatic agreement signed by PP and Vox expressly mentions the need to promote “executive and legislative” measures to advance the protection of the Mar Menor, although the repeal or amendment of the current law was not included in its wording regulating this recovery, as the Ultras had demanded.
They will also have no powers in agriculture, one of the main sources of votes for Vox in the Murcia region. They will represent one of the two new faces that Miras has chosen: that of Sara Rubira, a trained journalist and current president of the Abanilla Irrigation Community. Miras emphasized that she is the “first and only woman” at the head of a community of irrigation technicians, which is why she knows intimately the world of rural areas and their management, in addition to characterizing her as a great professional who will have the weight of one of the “ “most important” departments of the Autonomous Community.
The other novelty among the faces of the Governing Council is the journalist Carmen María Conesa, who will take over the leadership of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Sports and Youth. The first three areas, said Miras, are major drivers of the autonomous community’s economic development. He assured that he also wanted to give young people special weight in this legislature.
Among the names that are repeated, that of Luis Alberto Marín, who left the Ministry of Finance to head the PP list for the Congress of Deputies for Murcia, has caused surprise. Since the two positions are incompatible, he will now resign from his post and return to his previous powers, to which he will add those of the economy, thus creating a “super department,” the president said.

In addition, Conchita Ruiz remains in her position as Minister of Social Policy, Families and Equality; Juan José Pedreño as Minister of Health; Víctor Marín as Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Employment and Marcos Ortuño as Minister of the Presidential Office and Spokesman of the Executive Branch.
López Miras thanked all of them who will take office this Thursday for “their willingness and courage” and called for “transparency, honesty and orderliness in all their actions.” And with them, he said, he will work on “listening to people, going out on the streets to learn about reality,” without giving himself the usual leeway of 100 days of awareness, because, as he already did indicated at his inauguration that this period has already passed. used since the regional elections were held.
