34yearold actor Kayky Fernandes Brito is already breathing without artificial ventilation and without sedatives. According to the medical bulletin released by Copa D’Or Hospital on Wednesday afternoon (13th), the patient shows clinical improvement but will continue to remain in intensive care.
The artist was run over in the early hours of September 2 on Avenida Lúcio Costa in Barra da Tijuca, west of the city, suffering head trauma and a fracture to his right arm and pelvis. Last week, Kayky underwent surgery to correct both of these fractures.
He was at a waterfront kiosk with a group of friends, including actor Bruno de Luca, when he crossed the street to go to the car across the street. When he returned, he was hit by an app driver who was traveling with two passengers. The driver remained at the scene of the accident until the fire department arrived, who took the actor to the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital in Gávea. On Saturday afternoon, the family decided to transfer Kayky to the private Copa D’Or hospital.
The driver was taken to the police station where the case was registered. He underwent an examination at the Legal Medical Institute, which came back negative for blood alcohol content.
This morning (4), Kayky’s sister, actress Sthefany Brito, said in a post on social media: “I woke up strong, good news, I talked to you (Even if you’re not here, I talk to you all day you) ! I showered, prayed and thought: No tears! What a development! I lie here on my knees begging God to continue to take care of you. Thank you for fighting, for proving yourself to be a warrior. We need them!”
The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, announced this Monday (4) the review of road speeds in the city after the actor Kayky Brito was run over.
