NHL: Jack Hughes keeps his 100 points

Forward Jack Hughes would have liked to become the first player in New Jersey Devils history to reach 100 points in a year last season, but in his eyes it’s only a matter of time and he plans to do it this year to be achieved in 2023. 2024.

During last season, the 22-year-old hockey player had something of a missed date in history, as he fell just one point short with a total of 43 goals and 56 assists in 78 games. Luckily for his education, he has great ambitions and doesn’t want to stop there. This should be excellent news for the Devils, who finished second in a Metropolitan division that offered little respite.

“I am a competitive person by nature. […] “I want to be successful because I am,” he said during the Sportsnet network’s “32 Thoughts” podcast. I should get there.”

The team above all

However, individual heroism will not be enough to achieve collective success. It is particularly important for Hughes to continue the development of the club, which played in the second round of the 2023 playoffs after accumulating 52 wins in the regular calendar and 112 points in the standings. The previous lean years are now over, the player previously said.

“Before, we arrived at camp thinking, ‘What’s going to happen this year? Which draft pick will we get? Who’s going to go at the trade deadline?'” he admitted. Last year we said to ourselves: “It’s time to take a step forward. We’re no longer that young team that makes excuses every time.” At some point people said that the Hughes and [Nico] Hischier, maybe they’re not good players if they can’t win games.

“Last season we exploded and nobody expected it. It was amazing.”
