The “50 Best” brand, known worldwide for its gastronomic rankings, has also launched “The World’s 50 Best Hotels”. In this first edition of the award, a Brazilian hotel stood out among the 50 best in the world!
Among the first place winners, Asia dominated the ranking with its unique hotels, although only one European accommodation was in the top 5. See below.

The 50 best hotels in the world 2023
5th place: Aman Tokyo, Japan
Although the Aman Hotel is located in the heart of the Tokyo megalopolis, it surprises with its calm, elegant and luxurious atmosphere. Opened in 2014, the property occupies the top floors of a 38story skyscraper in the busy Otemachi financial district. The award recognized how the venue manages to create a sense of escape by offering a completely different environment from the region, while also offering guests incredible views of the Japanese capital.
4th place: The Upper House, Hong Kong
The House of Lords was ranked as a place in need of renovation. The rooms and studios draw attention to the size they offer as accommodation in Hong Kong. Modern, relaxing spaces feature soft tones and floortoceiling windows that showcase the city. To top it all off, the use of limestone bathtubs “cement their status as a masterpiece of understated luxury.”
3rd place: Four Seasons Bangkok on Chao Phraya River, Bangkok
Located on the banks of the River of Kings, the Four Seasons Bangkok is billed as a “designconscious urban retreat.” The location allows guests “really good times and relaxation.” It has 299 modern rooms and suites, spread over several floors, a pool area surrounded by palm trees and gardens, and a wellness center with a spa inspired by ancient Thai tradition.
2nd place: Rosewood Hong Kong, Hong Kong
The runnerup stood out for “its luxurious hospitality and breathtaking views of Victoria Harbour”. Opened in 2019, Rosewood Hong Kong features a 65story tower and has become a distinctive feature of the city’s skyline. The property marks Rosewood Hotel Group’s seventh opening in Asia.
1st place: Passalacqua, Moltrasio, Italy
The winner of the first 50 best hotels was Passalacqua, the best hotel in Europe and the world in 2023. Housed in an 18th century villa, Passalacqua is owned by the De Santis family, who are also responsible for the Grand Hotel Tremezzo is. The place was the former home of composer Vincenzo Bellini and has beautiful gardens in Italy.
With only 24 rooms, the hotel impresses with its artistic baroque elegance. The impression is that the accommodation is a private house in a magical location by the lake. Your daily rate starts at $1,300.
27th place: Rosewood São Paulo, Brazil
The Brazilian representative on the list of the 50 best hotels in the world was the Rosewood São Paulo. Described in the award as an “architecturally stunning and artful urban oasis,” the hotel features a vertical garden tower designed by Jean Nouvel and inspired by the magnificent Brazilian Atlantic Forest.
The property is the Rosewood chain’s first in South America and opened in 2022. It is located in Cidade Matarazzo, an early 20th century building complex that has been preserved and converted into high quality properties.
The hotel was the country’s only winner and is also considered the best hotel in South America 2023 with daily rates starting at $700. It offers 180 rooms and suites in a former historic maternity hospital where 500,000 São Paulo residents were born.
