NEOM, Saudi Arabia, Oct. 15, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — The Board of Directors of NEOM, the regional sustainable development project taking shape in northwest Saudi Arabia, today announced the establishment of Leyja, its newest tourist destination, the Land strengthens and enriches the Kingdom’s ecotourism offering.
Leyja is located in NEOM and is rich in history and mythology. It begins on the coast of the Arabian Gulf and its attractive waters to the west and then meanders inland to form a magnificent natural valley lying between the 400 meter high mountains, formed over many centuries by the power of nature and of the water.
Leyja builds on NEOM’s ongoing commitment to becoming a diverse destination and supports the Kingdom’s efforts to build a strong and sustainable tourism industry under Saudi Vision 2023. In line with NEOM’s strategy to designate the majority of its areas in its destinations and cities as a nature reserve, 95% of Leyja will be preserved for nature, combining innovative and environmentally friendly design and construction techniques to ensure that the development integrates seamlessly into the landscape.
Leyja’s three hotels were intelligently and sensitively designed by world-renowned architects to integrate into the surrounding nature, operate sustainably and offer unique experiences. The three properties will feature 120 elegant, charming rooms and suites, evenly spaced and containing 40 keys each.
The first property is tailor-made for active adventures. The deconstructed design climbs the wadi’s walls like a staircase, its structure effortlessly following the topography and minimally disrupting the land’s natural lines. Its unique resort, hidden at the top of the cliff and on the valley sides, is suitable for rock climbing and other high-flying experiences in the area.
The second property rises from the rock and is prominently located in the heart of the largest oasis in the wadi. It acts as an enchanting gateway to discovery and exploration of the valley beyond. The impressive staircase that leads from the gorge to the entrance of the property is a journey of discovery and offers unparalleled views of the valley in all its beauty.
The third property is an immersive wellness retreat that promotes longevity, with a high-tech reflective facade that reflects the surrounding beauty and valley walls. This allows the wadi to flow naturally through the center of the property, providing visitors with a unique and interactive experience.
Once developed, Leyja will offer a wide range of great experiences and activities, including gourmet and contemporary restaurants presented by world-renowned chefs. Key features also include spa facilities and rooftop infinity pools at all three properties. Numerous guided wadi hikes and exciting hiking trails amid the valley’s spectacular mountain landscape await visitors, while mountain biking and climbing tours are available for the more adventurous.
Leyja is NEOM’s latest development and follows the announcement of the project’s flagship regions including Sindalah, its luxury island; THE LINE, a cognitive linear city that represents the future of urban life; Trojena, your year-round mountain destination and the first outdoor ski experience in the GCC region; and Oxagon, the reimagined industrial city and home to NEOM’s advanced and clean industries.
