(Vienna, October 26, 2023) In the recently published Times Higher Education World University Ranking by Subject, MedUni Vienna achieved 95th place in the “Clinical and Health” subject group, becoming one of the top 100 for the first time since 2020 (98th place).World.
Last year, MedUni Vienna was listed between 101 and 125.
The University of Oxford (Great Britain) came first, followed by Harvard University (USA) and the University of Cambridge (Great Britain). The best university in continental Europe is the Karolinska Institute (Sweden) in 16th place. Of the German-speaking universities, the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin (27th), the University of Heidelberg (35th), the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (50th), the Ludwig Maximilian University Munich (50th), ETH Zurich (51st), University of Zurich (60th), TU Munich (65th), University of Bern (70th) and University of Basel (91st) ahead of MedUni Vienna. Other Austrian universities are not represented in the top 100.
The THE university ranking is based on 18 indicators in the areas of research, teaching, citations, internationalization and acquisition of financing from third parties in the industry. The two most important factors are, on the one hand, the survey of around 40,000 scientists on teaching and research topics and, on the other hand, bibliometric indicators such as publications and citations – each contributes around a third of the overall result .
