At that time, aged 7 and 8, his children lived with him every two weeks in their shared care. “To protect them, I didn’t really talk to them about it,” he said.

“They saw me on TV leaving the courthouse and it said, ‘Éric Lapointe still in court.’ They went completely white. They thought I had returned to court to take custody of them,” the rocker then said, specifying that at that moment he decided to have the conversation that he had been putting off until then.
“Mom, it is the hospital of the soul for me”
However, his mother was one of the first people he informed upon leaving the police station after his arrest on September 30, 2019.
“My mother, as I already said in an interview, is the hospital of the soul for me. She is my great confidante. I think from the beginning that a mother forgives everything and I also think that my mother knew what I was going through. She was just there to support me instead of imposing on me,” said Éric Lapointe during his interview broadcast on TVA.
