On the night of September 29th to 30th, 2019, Éric Lapointe, returning from a drunken evening celebrating his 50th birthday, “put his hand on the neck of…”. “I want to clarify that I came home drunk in the morning. The alcohol may have helped me lose control, but it would be too easy to blame it on the alcohol. The police then went to Éric Lapointe's house to arrest him. The 1500 Mile singer, who had since gone to bed, woke up in his bed surrounded by police officers.
“I woke up with police surrounding me in the room,” he told the journalist, emphasizing that he did not resist.
Éric Lapointe regretted the turn of events, admitted to regretting his actions and suggested that he had begun a healing process. “Violence does not define me. I condemn violence. “I should have picked up my guitar that morning,” said the now 54-year-old singer.
“I will never have enough regrets, it is the space of a few seconds and your life changes and I should never have taken actions that were more than inadequate and unacceptable.
