At least 18 people were injured in a car attack in the central Israeli city of Ra'anana on Monday, the Magen David Adom emergency service said. According to police, the perpetrator stabbed a passerby before grabbing a car and ramming several vehicles in three different locations in the city. Among the victims were a 34-year-old man and a 16-year-old teenager in serious condition, Magen David Adom said. Among the other injured were eight children who were leaving school.

The perpetrator of the attack, a Palestinian from Hebron in the West Bank, was arrested after changing vehicles three times. Police later confirmed the arrest of a second suspect. The two men, Mahmoud and Ahmed Zidat, members of the same family, worked illegally in the Ra'anana region and did not have permission to enter Israeli territory.

Ambulance service director general Eli Bin says a total of 17 people were treated by doctors at the scene, including people suffering from acute anxiety. Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the attack, but spokesman Eli Levy said it “increasingly resembles a terrorist incident.”
