The Atlanta Falcons appear to be the only NFL team in the running to sign the legendary Bill Belichick, and both teams will take a big step forward this weekend.
According to the NFL Network, the Georgia team will conduct a second interview with the 71-year-old. On Monday, the Falcons confirmed they had met with the former New England Patriots driver about making him their next head coach.

Belichick would have met with owner Arthur Blank, among others, and the interest would be mutual, although an agreement is not imminent, according to the same source. At least five other candidates have reportedly interviewed with the organization.
The Falcons have been searching for a new head coach since firing Arthur Smith on January 8th. Atlanta failed to qualify for the playoffs for the sixth consecutive year. During Smith's three tenures, the club posted a 7-10 record each time.
A week ago, Belichick's 24-year relationship with the Patriots ended by mutual consent. The team was eliminated from the playoffs for the third time in four years. His successor was former star linebacker Jerod Mayo.
