Beauce-Sartigan: A former SPVM police officer was found dead in a residence in Saint-Georges –

The 52-year-old man found dead in an apartment building in Saint-Georges on Sunday evening is a former member of the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM). A suspect in the crisis has been arrested.

The incident, which appears to be a murder although the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is currently refusing to confirm it, occurred around 9:30 p.m. at an apartment building on 187th Street, near Lacroix Boulevard.

When they arrived on scene, authorities found an unresponsive man with serious injuries to his body. His death was confirmed immediately, said Frédéric Deshaies, spokesman for the provincial police.

According to our sources, the victim is Sylvio Champagne, a 52-year-old former Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) officer. He had lived there for at least two years.

A man, also in his 50s, was arrested at the scene of the tragedy and subsequently taken to hospital to assess his health.

He remains in custody and will be picked up by police officers from the Personal Crimes Investigations Unit when his health permits, it said.
