In Dachau (Bavaria), IT specialist Jürgen F. (54) welcomed a Ukrainian refugee into his apartment out of compassion. However, this gesture of humanity ended in a tragic bloodbath.
Olena K. (52), a Ukrainian economist who fled the Russian-Ukrainian war, is now before the Munich Regional Court II on charges of manslaughter. She is said to have mortally wounded Jürgen F. with a kitchen knife.
From war refugee to defendant
The reason: she didn't want to leave the apartment where she found shelter. The two met 15 years ago through an online dating portal and initially had a sexual relationship. Although Jürgen F. distanced himself from Olena from 2013 onwards, a friendly bond remained. This connection led him to help her in times of need.
Escalation of a residential conflict
When Jürgen F. started a new relationship, the situation got worse. Despite repeated attempts to get Olena K. to move out, she refused. In an escalating argument on February 5, 2023, Olena finally grabbed a knife and fatally wounded Jürgen F..
A process with uncertain results
The Public Prosecutor's Office brought charges of manslaughter, but the court did not rule out a murder conviction on basic grounds. The trial will continue next Friday.
