Robitussin products recalled nationwide due to microbial contamination – The Hill

Robitussin maker Haleon is voluntarily recalling eight batches of its cough syrup due to microbial contamination, the manufacturer announced Wednesday.

There have been no reports of adverse events related to this recall, Haleon said in its statement.

The recall includes six lots of Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult, 4 oz. and 8 oz. and two batches of Robitussin Honey CF Max Adult, in 8 oz.

One day's worth of cough syrup in 4 oz. has been recalled, T10810, which expires October 31, 2025. Five batches of daily cough syrups in 8 ounces. have been recalled, including T08730, T08731, T08732 and T08733, all expiring May 31, 2025; Lot number T10808 expires on September 30, 2025.

The two recalled lots of night cough syrup T08740 and T08742 both expired on June 30, 2026.

Haleon said people in possession of these products should stop consuming them immediately, and the company said it is notifying retailers and customers directly of the microbial contamination and providing instructions for returning the recalled products.

The potential effects of ingesting the contaminated product would be particularly serious for immunocompromised individuals in whom “use of the affected product could potentially result in serious or life-threatening adverse events such as fungemia or disseminated fungal infection.”

“Life-threatening infections are unlikely to occur in non-immunocompromised consumers, the population most likely to use the product. However, the occurrence of an infection that may require medical intervention cannot be completely ruled out,” the statement continued.

Haleon encouraged consumers to contact their healthcare provider if they have any problems and to report “adverse reactions or quality issues” to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
