The CAA headquarters in Century City was evacuated after a threatening call was received by the super agency on Thursday, which resulted in all staff quickly leaving the building at 2000 Avenue of the Stars.

The Los Angeles Police Department is on scene as all employees have left the offices of the agency led by Bryan Lourd, Kevin Huvane and Richard Lovett. It is not yet known when the building might reopen.

“It’s a crazy, shitty world, and it hit us today,” a CAA official cautiously told Deadline this afternoon.

While some senior staff may re-enter their offices once they have received the all-clear from security and police, for most in the agency today the day is over.

“CAA Global Safety & Security has confirmed that the CAA offices in Los Angeles have received a security threat,” said an internal email sent to employees this afternoon. “Your safety is our top priority. We are closing our Los Angeles offices out of an abundance of caution while the threat is investigated for credibility. Please go home and encourage those who can use the stairs to do so as the elevators may become congested.”

A similar incident occurred at the building in 2015 when LAPD investigated a suspicious package that had been dropped at a bank there. No bomb was found, but the package contained “an unknown liquid,” police said at the time. The incident then became a hazmat issue.

Even before the lockdown in 2020, the CAA building was evacuated due to a gas leak.

The UTA headquarters in Beverly Hills was evacuated in July 2022 due to a suspected bomb threat in the form of a suspicious package, and the WME office building in Los Angeles was evacuated in 2018 when police checked a suspicious package there.
