A first in Canada for a Subway restaurant in Terrebonne

Ten months after the city of Terrebonne banned single-use items, 90% of restaurants with indoor dining are in compliance.

Some major fast food chains are still struggling to achieve the same.

However, the Subway restaurant at Galeries Terrebonne recently became the banner's first Canadian restaurant to serve reusable tableware.

“People's acceptance is going really well and we are proud to be part of this great initiative,” explains Galeries Terrebonne subway manager Joëlle Laliberté-Fillion.

“We hope there are others who will get on board,” she adds.

The management of Galeries Terrebonne is pleased that all companies are complying with the regulations.

“It is certain that it is a little more difficult for them to comply with regulations when it comes to large banners. It needs more approval and everything in terms of tableware and logos, but they did it,” explains the general director of Galeries Terrebonne, Magali Arbor Roy.

The latter confirms that this new approach is already having a slight impact on dealers' budgets.

“In the long term we will see savings. It was more the initial cost of the dishes and everything, but if we compare it to what they threw away, it will be a good saving in magnitude,” claims Ms. Arbor Roy.
