The Congolese president was invited by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and traveled to the European country the day before.
The event is scheduled for January 28 and 29, 2024 and is expected to involve more than 50 delegations, mainly from African countries, as well as heads of state and government of the European Union (EU) and representatives of international organizations.
The aim is to present the Italian strategic plan for the African continent.
Rome and Brazzaville have strengthened bilateral cooperation and strengthened the partnership between both countries, which included a working visit by Meloni last October.
“Italy and Congo are two friendly nations bound by a long and sincere friendship,” the Italian Prime Minister said at the end of the meeting with the Congolese leader, adding that she was happy to be in the country to promote relations to renew and strengthen in the spirit of connection.
He pointed out that it is a win-win relationship that benefits everyone and is far from any paternalism of other times, emphasizing cooperation in areas such as energy, which contribute to Italy's needs and the will enable African country to make progress in its development. .
Meloni also reiterated the commitment to human resources training in Congo and issues related to climate change.
Italy will receive up to one billion cubic meters of liquefied natural gas from Congo next winter and up to 4.5 billion cubic meters in 2025-2026 as part of a program to expand energy cooperation.
