Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais will replace Louis-José Houde as ADISQ Gala host

After weeks of speculation, it is now clear: comedian Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais will host the next ADISQ gala. He will succeed Louis-José Houde, who led the company for 18 years.

“I grew up with music and humor. As a teenager, I played guitar and sang in a group that covered the hits of Les Trois Accords, and then I never missed the ADISQ gala hosted by my idol Louis-José Houde. So is it an honor to take over the leadership of ADISQ? Yes, yes, normal,” said Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais (PYRD) in a press release.

The 29-year-old comedian was one of the successors expected to take over the reins of this music festival after Louis-José Houde announced his resignation last November.

Not only did PYRD receive rave reviews for his first one-man show, Jokes Chapeau Maman Magie Piano, but he also stood out in recent editions of Bye Bye.

The comedian has also released several songs in his young career, which shows his connection to the music world.

“When we met him a few months ago to gauge his interest in our galas, it quickly became clear to us that Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais has all the natural qualities for this mandate, he who has the duties of a presenter, a comedian and a musicians combined. He is also a great connoisseur of Quebec music. We knew immediately that we had found a rare gem when he told us about his youth through notable music albums from here. The 46th ADISQ Gala is in good hands,” said Julie Gariépy, executive producer and director of the ADISQ Galas, in a press release.
