A little more than a week after the information began circulating in the media, Gatineau Olympics confirmed Tuesday morning that Serge Beausoleil had become the team's head coach “on an interim and indefinite basis.” Continuing the departure of Desrosiers “towards a new challenge”, without naming his next destination.

This new challenge lies with the Islanders. According to the findings, Desrosiers met Lou Lamoriello and the New York organization for the first time in Montreal last Wednesday, a day before the game between the Islanders and the Canadiens at the Bell Center.

“I'm happy for Benoit. He was a hard worker who strived hard. His coaching qualities are recognized. For my part, I must continue the work started with our organization to ensure the transition and maintain our goal, which is to participate in the playoffs,” said Serge Beausoleil in a press release.

The Islanders still haven't confirmed anything, while the Olympics have indicated there will be no comment until Desrosier's next destination is known.
