The View's Whoopi Goldberg has slammed “toxically masculine” men who were upset about Taylor Swift attending her boyfriend Travis Kelce's NFL games.
Goldberg and her ABC co-host Joy Behar discussed the baffling obsession with the star on Wednesday's edition of their show and asked football fans why they were “so mad.”
Swift has become a staple of NFL broadcast attention – but has also faced criticism from people who feel her presence ruins their viewing experience.
The hosts of The View took aim at the critics, with Goldberg, 68, saying, “Why are you so mad?”
'Why are you so angry? There are so many things in this world to be angry about. Why are these men toxically masculine?
The View's Whoopi Goldberg asked men upset about Taylor Swift appearing on TV and supporting her NFL star boyfriend Travis Kelce: “Why are you so angry?”
Goldberg's co-host Joy Behar added that these “toxically masculine” men should “get a psychiatrist”

Behar encouraged those who had issues with Swift's appearances at NFL games to seek professional help.
The 81-year-old said: “These guys need therapy, go to a psychiatrist!” I mean, they don't think it's manly to be in therapy.
“It’s not about masculinity.” [or] Feminine, it’s your brain and that’s why they need some help and that’s why I feel sorry for them.”
Another face of the show, Sara Haines, marveled that some people's problem was that the NFL was a no-girls environment, which destroyed the prolific singer in a way some called ” “very unpleasant”.
“Here comes Taylor Swift. She has more money – therefore more power. “She’s more famous and comes to visit her boyfriend at his house,” Haines added.
Sonny Hostin called the loud crowds upset about Swift at NFL games a “crazy group” and said she sees nothing wrong with the Cruel Summer singer supporting her significant other.
FOX Sports analyst Colin Cowherd used very similar language in a tirade in which he blasted critics while dismissing their complaints.
In the nearly four-minute tirade, he said: “There are a lot of really strange, lonely, insecure men out there.”
“The fact that a pop star, the biggest pop star in the world, is dating a star tight end who had one of his greatest games ever.” [in the AFC Championship game], and a station broadcasts it on air for a short time, so it bothers you. What does that say about your life?
He continued to debunk the “I just want to watch football” defense, saying that in an average three-and-a-half-hour NFL broadcast, only 18 minutes of “real football” are shown.
That wasn't the only stat Cowherd had up his sleeve.
He continued, “Listen to this.” The New York Times measured how long she was actually on the show. Do you know how long it takes? On average? 25 seconds. In three and a half hours. Against the Ravens it was a whopping 32 seconds. It was 14 [for] Chiefs and Raiders at Christmas. Twelve [for] Chiefs and Bengals, 24 seconds [for] Buffalo-Kansas City.
“She was in action for a minute against the Dolphins. But it was an absolutely terrible show. They should have had a concert in the middle of it all. That would have been more interesting. And why wouldn't CBS, which, as you know, won the Grammys, cross-promote the biggest pop star in the world?
“And we have the data, we have the numbers.” You don’t turn away. There are trainer cutaways. They show fans in Buffalo on fire. Commercials, reviews, 18 minutes of real football, about the length of five Taylor Swift songs.”
Cowherd then pointed out that stars like Matthew McConaughey, Drake, Spike Lee, Eminem and Jack Nicholson are constantly shown on television at sporting events without any complaint from audiences.
“But there’s a talented and beautiful woman on the air who would never pay any attention to lonely men, and that bothers her.”
Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd lashed out at men who complained about the pop star, calling them “weird, lonely and insecure.”
Swift has been a lightning rod for angry men who are angry about her being on TV since her relationship with Kelce went public
The tight end is traveling to the Super Bowl to face the 49ers in Las Vegas
He continued: “There's a statistic – it's kind of uncomfortable for you sad dudes – that 50 percent of men never have real intimacy with a woman.” That means the other 50 percent have multiple intimate relationships with women.
“And those who don't are angry and sad and lonely.” And they are often misogynistic and resentful of women who haven't given them the time they think they deserve.
“We’re celebrating all these goofballs jumping around on tables wearing buffalo and cheese hats.” [in Green Bay]…and Matthew McConaughey and Drake and Jack Nicholson…and it's cool…
“A young, attractive, beautiful, talented woman comes along for 25 seconds and you're bothered again.” Judge people by the silly things that bother them.
“This anger says nothing about Taylor Swift. It says everything about the men who are being harassed by it.”
Swift will likely be seen again next weekend, on February 11, as she is expected to attend Super Bowl LVIII – where Kelce and the Chiefs will play the San Francisco 49ers.
