Auston Matthews scored a hat trick and the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in overtime on Thursday night at Scotiabank Arena.
The sniper hit the target three times in the second section. It was his fifth hat-trick of the 2023/24 season and he has found the target 45 times in 51 games.
However, it was a goal from William Nylander that made the difference in overtime. Mitch Marner provided three assists in this duel.
The Flyers scored two goals in the third period to force overtime. Garnet Hathaway and Travis Konecny were the authors of these successes. Travis Sanheim scored the other goal for the visitors.
The lightning doubles the avalanche
In Tampa Bay, the Lightning scored four unanswered goals in the third period and defeated the Colorado Avalanche 6-3.

In New Jersey, Quinton Byfield equalized with just over five minutes left in the third period and the Los Angeles Kings defeated the Devils 2-1.
The 21-year-old used a power play to put the puck behind goalkeeper Nico Daws.
