The Houthis would “suffer the consequences” of their attacks, the Pentagon chief warned.

The United States and Britain carried out strikes against 18 Houthi targets in eight different locations in Yemen this Saturday, February 24, in response to attacks by Iran-backed rebels on ships in the Red Sea, the Pentagon said in a statement with press release.

“The Houthis have carried out more than 45 attacks on commercial and military vessels since mid-November, posing a threat to the global economy and regional security and stability. Regional and requires an international response,” the statement said.

Joint raids

The Houthis “will suffer the consequences” of their attacks, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin warned. “The United States will not hesitate to take action when necessary to protect lives and the free flow of commerce on one of the world’s most critical waterways,” another press release said.

These joint airstrikes in Yemen were carried out with other countries supporting the operation: Canada, Australia, Bahrain, Denmark, the Netherlands and New Zealand, the press release said.
