The new SPUM-SQ joint organized crime investigation team, in operation since February 6, presented its first concrete results on Friday. She carried out her first searches in Sept-Îles and in the municipality of Uashat mak Maliotenam.
Police from the mixed force searched an apartment on Rue Pashin and another on Rue des Mouettes in Parc Ferland. Those at the scene were released at the scene and will appear in court at a later date on drug trafficking-related charges.
Drugs and weapons
Investigators seized 1,130 methamphetamine pills, MDMA pills, about 100 prescription pills, nearly two grams of cocaine, a poorly stored shotgun, an imitation pistol and a can of pepper spray, as well as about $5,000 in Canadian money.
The mixed investigation team consists of five police officers from the public security Sûreté du Québec and Uashat Mak Mani-Utenam. The aim of the new permanent team is to bring two police forces together more effectively to curb drug trafficking, prostitution and gun crime.

In an intensive four-day campaign against organized crime, Sûreté du Québec police officers also arrested around twenty people in Quebec, including two on the north coast. A 36-year-old man was intercepted in Sept-Îles yesterday as part of this operation. There was also an arrest in Chute-aux-outardes.
