Your eyes, Kebs! | The Montreal Journal

Friday, in his column from DutyJean-François Lisée (who appears daily on the show I co-host with Marie Montpetit on QUB) published statements from teachers affirming that hatred, denigration and contempt for Quebec culture and identity are very well received in our schools .

Excerpt from a teacher's statement:

“While we were in the middle of a discussion about our values, one of the two local students raised his hand to speak. Then the whole group started laughing and booing and saying that the Kebs had no values and that our girls and women were actually sluts.”

“I quickly intervened and was interrupted by a tall man of North African descent who said to me: 'Madam, you can't understand because the Kebs have no culture.' You do the things that white people do, like in go to the lodge and ski, and you don’t educate your children.”

“Montreal is not bilingual enough”

Jean-François Lisée's powerful – and depressing – column has, of course, sparked a huge wave of sympathy towards Quebecers (message to people who have no sense of humor: I mean irony here).

Here are some reactions collected here and there on X…

First to sign the news was Adam Brahimin, whose Twitter page shows a sign of the Algerian flag on the flag of Canada. (Most of his contributions are written in English).

“The more I read people's interventions on social media, the more I am happy to see that the resistance against the 'natives' is growing day by day. The time is approaching when they will shut up in Montreal and go straight.”

“The 'natives' are being rejected in their own schools and things are moving more and more in that direction. “We feel the beginning of a movement in which more and more people are standing up and fighting back against this monolithic white French-speaking bloc.”

“Forcing immigrants who settle in Quebec to learn French forces them to learn a language that is of no use to them.” (sic)

“The Italian community is an example to follow. They refused to send their children to mediocre French schools and sent them to English schools.”

Other reactions…

Media Salman (message in English): “I was discriminated against during my stay in Montreal. I like Montreal, but this city should be more bilingual.”

Ah, because it's not enough?

Slazac: “Quebecers don’t really speak French. French speakers who come from other countries can’t even understand them.”

Quebec is racist, backwards, uneducated trash (this is the poetic name chosen by this user). French is preventing Canada from moving forward.”

Useful idiots

And we can always count on the French-speaking useful idiots of the radical left to join this pack – like Judith Lefebvre, who wrote in the webzine Le Pivot:

“Quebec’s choice is isolation and mediocrity. Quebec has a white supremacy problem.”

Not bad, right?
