A plane operated by World2Fly airline made an emergency landing at Lisbon Airport on Saturday night after a mechanical problem, the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) said.
“The Airbus A330-300 had a mechanical problem, apparently with the landing gear, which triggered the emergency landing,” an ANAC spokeswoman told AFP.
The plane took off from Humberto Delgado Airport in the afternoon and was bound for the Cuban city of Varadero.
Shortly after take-off, the plane with around 300 passengers on board declared a state of emergency.
It then circled the Lisbon region for a long time before landing without incident at 7:10 p.m. local time at the airport in the Portuguese capital, surrounded by ready-to-use civil defense vehicles, according to FlightRadar.
