Kieron Richardson says life with twins Chase and Phoebe Ray and husband Carl Hyland is magical

‘I treat every day like Father’s Day because I’m so grateful and blessed’: Hollyoaks star Kieron Richardson says life with twins Chase and Phoebe Ray, five, and husband Carl Hyland gets more magical every year

Kieron Richardson says Father’s Day gets more magical every year after welcoming his beloved twins with husband Carl Hyland five years ago.

The 36-year-old actor – who plays Ste Hay in Hollyoaks – and his partner Carl are parents to Chase and Phoebe Ray via surrogate.

And the twins are particularly treasured by the couple after the surrogate had failed attempts before conceiving on the third.

Kieran told the Sunday People: “This is now our fifth Father’s Day and every year it gets even more magical.

“The kids are at an age now where they have their personality. I just treat every day like Father’s Day because I’m so grateful and blessed.

“It’s about appreciating your parents and being thankful for everything they do. Every day is Father’s Day for us as we thought this was unattainable.

“I’m so grateful that we have these two amazing kids in our lives and that we can just give them the best parenting we can imagine.”

Kieron said he looks forward to opening handmade cards and gifts from her children at home on Father’s Day.

The couple announced they were expecting twins in December 2016, and in 2017 they welcomed Chase and Phoebe Ray into their family.

When Kieron came out in 2010, his character on Hollyoaks was in the process of confronting his own sexuality when he fell in love with bad boy Brendan Brady.

Gently helping Kieron come out in 2010, Phillip said to him, “Of course it’s on TV and it’s part of a character, but there are elements here that are pretty close to your life itself. And what would they be?’

Kieron then revealed his truth when he replied: “The fact that I’m gay in real life and at 20 I kind of accepted it myself. Now I can finally relate to my character Ste that he’s 20 and going through things that I’ve been through in my past.

Phillip then added: “People you know will know it’s not a big surprise there because your friends know, your work colleagues know you’ve had that conversation with your parents but you never really have it out loud said .’

Looking nervous, Kieron went on to say that during his stint on Dancing On Ice earlier that year, bosses offered him opportunities to reveal his sexuality on the show.

He declined as he didn’t want his personal life to overshadow his time in the competition.

Keiron said, “But now I feel like it’s relevant and the storyline is relevant to some situations in my life and if maybe I could help people who are going through the same thing then that’s a bonus.”
