(ANSA) – ROME, JUNE 18 – “A concert without references, different from those we are used to. Unique. Like never before”. Antonello Venditti and Francesco De Gregori are convinced of this, leaving the Olympic Stadium in Rome for their first tour together in 50 years of careers, since 1972, when they double-signed the album Theorius Campus, and after ups and downs also in their relationship consisting of quarrel and reconciliation. “After they were cut off, our relationship is complete today. And we can send each other to this country as friends and not through third parties. We are brothers and the brotherhood can never be broken,” they say.
The project for the Rome concert and subsequent tour began to take shape 4 years ago and was then slowed down by the Covid.
“What we’re doing is an abnormal thing, but we don’t have to prove anything,” says Venditti, just before he takes the stage. “After 50 years nobody has ever done what they have not done before. But the times are so exact today. A very strange thing “. “Strange, but true,” De Gregori underlines mischievously.
The concert, they explain, “is a great song. It is the concert of one, even if we are two”. They only share the vision of what they represent. “We are survivors and I wish the new generations to survive like us in 50 years’ time,” is the Prince’s position. “But what a survivor – Antonello replies, piqued -: we are a flood river, I feel creative, with a great desire to do even more than before”.
They bring more than thirty songs to the stage, twenty of which are sung in two voices. “For the casting, we stuck to a script, they say, our lives. ‘Two of them left and there was enough’ we sing and it’s us. The aim is to celebrate: our repertoire is fuel, we brought good sausages to grill”. (HAND).
