Fifteen current and former Mexican fighters came together to teach the biggest boxing class ever on Saturday in the Zocalo, Mexico City’s main square.
Erik “El Terrible” Morales, Andy Ruiz Jr., Oscar Valdez, Jackie Nava, Humberto “Chiquita” González, Miguel Berchelt, Jose “Pipino” Cuevas, Alfonso Zamora, Jose Luis Bueno, Jose Antonio “Jaguar” Aguirre, Ganigan Lopez, Adrian “Confesor” Hernandez, Mariana Juarez, Ana Maria Torres and Alan David Picasso were the instructors in the mega boxing class organized by the Sports Institute (Indeporte) of Mexico City.
The event broke the Guinness World Record for the largest boxing class in the world with 14,299 participants. The previous record was held by Moscow, Russia, as it held a mega boxing course in Red Square with 3,250 participants.
The participants wore t-shirts with the colors of the Mexican flag to cover the entire square in green, white and red.
Indeporte director Javier Hidalgo Ponce just presented the kits a few weeks ago.
“It’s going to be a great colorful party because together, with these beautiful shirts, we’re going to form the Mexican flag that every single competitor in the Massive Boxing Class will have,” Hidalgo said on June 3.
The class lasted 30 minutes, with only two 20-second drinking breaks.
